Crisis Galería is pleased to participate in Art Toronto 2025, presenting works by Sylvia Fernández (b. 1978, Lima, Peru) and Luisanna González Quattrini (b. 1972, Lima, Peru).
The work of Sylvia Fernández reflects her devotion to painting as a daily act of exploration and surrender—a practice that intertwines with her everyday life, delving into intimacy to uncover the strange and ineffable aspects of our shared humanity. Her process unfolds across two temporal dimensions: a linear one, in which her continuous search through pigment, gesture, and color builds a body of work grounded in play and experimentation; and a cyclical one, in which memory, imagination, and myth return in infinite loops, evoking lost paradises and a primordial sense of wholeness.
The paintings of Luisanna González Quattrini unfold like constellations positioned at the threshold of beginnings and endings, arranging floating images into an atlas of impossible landscapes. Rejecting linear narratives, her work embraces fluidity and contradiction: human and hybrid figures plunge into boundless waters, innocence collides with regression, and instinct surpasses urbanity. Between dense impasto and flowing expanses, her canvases open themselves to symbolic interpretation as well as reflections on the very components of painting itself.
